As hubs to the global economy, airports have a key role to play in addressing the climate crisis by reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with nations and states everywhere. The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is doing this and more, as we aim to be the first airport in the world to achieve “triple zero”: zero waste going to landfill, zero net energy facilities, zero net carbon operations. In addition, SFO also leads climate initiatives in water stewardship and health and wellbeing.

Learning objectives for the tour are as follows:

  • To share the benefits of aviation including jobs/professional growth, regional economic development, and industry/city sustainability
  • To acknowledge the environmental impacts of aviation, the built environment and ground transportation and the ways these are mitigated through industry best management practices
  • To identify and make tangible the specific ways SFO is leading sustainability and resilience across global airports
  • To connect guests’ tangible sustainability measures, inspire them to consider these for their own journeys/homes/businesses, develop a sense of pride when traveling through SFO for its investments in sustainability

Tour Timing:

  • 12:15 pm: Leave Hyatt Regency (meet on the lobby level behind the Concierge Desk) via SFO Airport Shuttle. Travel time 15 min to get to International-A Departures Level Shuttle Stop at SFO
